Explanation
BACKGROUND: The Columbus Health Department has the need for interpretation services for non-English speaking clients at the three Columbus Health Department's Perinatal Clinics: East, North and West, for both intake and regular clinics. This ordinance authorizes the Board of Health to enter into a contract with the Ohio Hispanic Coalition for interpretation services for the period of July 1, 2006 through June 30, 2007, in an amount not to exceed $69,240.
These services were advertised on the City's website (SA001951) and the Ohio Hispanic Coalition was the lowest bidder.
Emergency action is requested in order to avoid any delays in providing program services.
FISCAL IMPACT: Funding for this contract is provided with grant funds from the Ohio Department of Health in the amount of $36,442, and with Health Special Revenue Funds in the amount of $32,798.

WHEREAS, the Columbus Health Department has a need for interpretation services for non-English speaking clients at the three Perinatal clinics; and,
WHEREAS, the Health Department currently has a contract with Ohio Hispanic Coalition which provides interpretation and written translation services for clients of CHD perinatal clinic; and,
WHEREAS, contracting with community-based organizations has proven beneficial to CHD clients, the organizations, and to the City of Columbus; and,
WHEREAS, this ordinance authorizes the Board of Health to enter into a contract with the Ohio Hispanic Coalition for the period of July 1, 2006 through June 30, 2007; and,
