Explanation
BACKGROUND: Ordinance number 2074-2007 authorized the Director of the Department of Development to enter into a contract with Thompson Building Associates (cc # 31-1020606) to provide services to 879 E. Long Street ("The Edna Bulding") in the amount of $87,000. The existing contract includes the removal of a deteriorated roof and building debris, shoring of the structure, environmental testing, preparation of construction documents for roof reconstruction, and securing of the building. It is now necessary to amend the existing contract due to the results of the environmental testing and the completion of the construction documents. This amendment will add asbestos remediation and roof replacement services to the existing contract, which will permit a concurrent scope of work to stablize and keep the building from further deterioration.
Work under the existing contract has started and will not be able to continue without the authorization of the asbestos remediation.
FISCAL IMPACT: Funds for this contract are allocated from the Department of Development, Northland and Other Acquisitions Fund.
