Background

Background: This ordinance authorizes the Finance and Management Director to renew a contract for the Fleet Management Division with Investigation & Protection Agency for unarmed security guard patrol services. Ordinance No. 0534-2008, passed April 16, 2008, authorized the original contract. This modification exercises the first of four one-year renewal options.

Emergency action is requested to ensure security services remain uninterrupted at the Fleet Maintenance facility at 4211 Groves Road.

Fiscal Impact: The Fleet Management Division budgeted $100,000.00 in the 2009 operating budget for security services. The cost of this contract is $70,590.00. The amount spent on this contract in 2008 was $70,590.00.

WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 0534-2008, passed by City Council on April 16, 2008, authorized the Finance and Management Director to renew a contract for unarmed security guard patrol services at the Fleet Maintenance Facility at 4211 Groves Road; and

WHEREAS, the contract with Investigation & Protection Agency contains an option to renew the existing agreement for four one-year periods; and

WHEREAS, it is necessary to renew this contract with Investigation & Protection Agency; and

WHEREAS, an emergency exists in the usual daily operation of the Finance and Management Department, Fleet Management Division, in that it is immediately necessary to authorize the Finance and Management Director to renew a contract with Investigation & Protection Agency for security services at the F...
