Explanation
This ordinance approves the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the City of Columbus and Fraternal Order of Police, Ohio Labor Council, Inc., covering the period of September 1, 2024 through September 1, 2027.
All Articles of this Agreement and attachments thereto have been approved by representatives of the City and the Union. A signed Agreement will be on file in the Department of Human Resources.
Emergency action is recommended for expedient implementation of the negotiated clauses and because certain provisions of the Agreement are effective on a retroactive basis.
The fiscal impact was summarized in a memorandum to City Council, attached hereto.

To approve the proposed Collective Bargaining Agreement between the City of Columbus and Fraternal Order of Police, Ohio Labor Council, Inc., dated September 1, 2024 through September 1, 2027, to provide wages, hours and other terms and conditions of employment for employees in the bargaining unit as provided in the attachment hereto; and to declare an emergency.
Body
WHEREAS, representatives of the City of Columbus and the Fraternal Order of Police, Ohio Labor Council, Inc., entered into a tentative agreement during the course of negotiations; and
WHEREAS, the membership of the Fraternal Order of Police, Ohio Labor Council, Inc., ratified the agreement on October 4, 2024; and
WHEREAS, the City Council is asked to approve the entire Collective Bargaining Agreement, and attachments thereto; and
WHEREAS, an emergency exists in the usual daily operation of the Departments of Public Safety and Human Resources such that it is immediately necessary, in order to effectuate the timely negotiated clauses and because certain provisions of the Agreement are effective on a retroactive bases, to approve the Collective Bargaining Agreement negotiated between the City and Fraternal Order of Police, Ohio Labor Council, Inc., dated September 1, 2024 through September 1, 2027, thereby preserving ...
