Explanation
BACKGROUND This ordinance authorizes the Board of Health to accept and appropriate $93,400.00 in grant funds from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services through the Ohio Department of Health. This ordinance is needed to accept and appropriate $93,400.00 in grant monies for the Youth Suicide Prevention grant program for the period of September 15, 2026 through September 14, 2027.
The primary purpose of the Youth Suicide Prevention Program is to enhance existing or develop local coalition/workgroup to support implementation and feedback on youth suicide prevention efforts through the development/update of a coordinated multi-sectoral plan.
Emergency action is requested to allow the financial transaction to be posted in the City’s accounting system as soon as possible in light of the September 15, 2026 start date and not delay all activities for Youth Suicide Prevention.
FISCAL IMPACT: The Youth Suicide Prevention program is entirely funded by the grant from Ohio Department of Health and does not generate revenue or require a City Match.

WHEREAS, $93,400.00 in grant funds have been made available through the Ohio Department of Health for the Youth Suicide Prevention grant program for the period of September 15, 2026 through September 14, 2027; and,
WHEREAS, it is necessary to accept and appropriate these funds from the Ohio Department of Health for the continued support of the Youth Suicide Prevention grant program; and,
WHEREAS, the City may receive additional funds awarded from the Ohio Department of Health Control for the support of the Youth Suicide Prevention Grant Program; and,
