Explanation
BACKGROUND:
This legislation authorizes the Director of the Department of Development to enter into contract with Columbus Technology Leadership Council for the amount of $152,464.00. As a result of the Mayor's Task Force on Technology in 1998, the Columbus Technology Leadership Council has served as the unifying force and voice of technology for the Greater Columbus Community. The Council focuses on aligning the region's business, government, and education leaders on the development and execution of strategies and initiatives that result in economic development for the City. These funds will provide for operating expenses to encourage and foster formation and growth of technology-based companies, and to facilitate effective use of technology to strengthen central Ohio's economy.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The 2004 General Fund Budget appropriated $152,464.00 for technology support.

WHEREAS, the Director of the Department of Development desires to enter into contract with Columbus Technology Leadership Council to provide the unifying force and voice of technology for the Greater Columbus Community; and
WHEREAS, the Columbus Technology Leadership Council will encourage and foster formation and growth of technology-based companies, and facilitate effective use of technology to strengthen the Central Ohio economy; and
WHEREAS, the City of Columbus will establish contract terms that will allow for four, equal, quarterly payments; and
WHEREAS, the City of Columbus, due to its budget situation, reserves the right to reduce and/or terminate funding of the contract, after providing thirty days notice from the City to Columbus Technology Leadership Council; and NOW, THEREFORE,
