Explanation

Background:
The Greater Hilltop Plan Amendment, focusing on land use and urban design, updates the City of Columbus 2001 Greater Hilltop Plan. It applies to the Greater Hilltop Area Commission area, which is bounded by Interstate 70, the CSX Railroad, and Interstate 270. The process was initiated at the request of the area commission and incorporates elements of the 2008 Hilltop/West Broad Corridor Market Analysis and the 2005 West Broad Street Economic Development Strategy. A Working Committee of neighborhood stakeholders met on a monthly basis from February 2009 to March 2010 to provide input and guidance. This work was augmented by consultation with property owners and additional community representatives. A draft plan was completed in the first quarter of 2010. An open house was held in April of 2010 to allow for broader public input. On June 1, 2010, the Greater Hilltop Area Commission voted to recommend the draft to the Development Commission. The Development Commission reviewed the plan on June 24, 2010 and unanimously voted to recommend its adoption to City Council.
