Explanation

Background:
Bids were received by the Recreation and Parks Department on June 6, 2006, for the Former Barnett School Property and Liv-Moor Pool Demolition, as follows:

*Based on City's responsible contracting evaluation syste, credits given to Loewendick including, local business, loval employees, benefits program, and apprenticeship program, made them the new evaluated low bidder.

Project includes demolition of the former Barnett Elementary School and Liv-Moor Pool.

The Contract Compliance Number for S.G. Loewendick and Sons, Inc., is #31-4420502.

A contingency amount of $10,000.00 is being included in this project.

Emergency legislation is necessary to ensure seeding is complete by fall season.

Fiscal Impact:
$219,750.00 is required and budgeted in the Voted 1999/2004 Parks and Recreation Bond Fund to meet the financial obligation of this contract.

WHEREAS, bids were received by the Recreation and Parks Department on June 6, 2006, and the contract for the Former Barnett School Property and Liv-Moor Pool Demolition will be awarded on the basis of the lowest and best responsive and responsible bidder; and

WHEREAS, an emergency exists in the usual daily operation of the Recreation and Parks Department in that it is immediately necessary to enter into contract to enable completion seeding by fall season; now, therefore
