To honor and congratulate Rev. & Mrs. Hale for being selected as the first recipients of the Heritage Award for Caring.
 
 
Body
 
 
WHEREAS, the Heritage Day Health Centers' are honoring Rev. & Mrs. Hale at the 2nd Annual Recognition event entitled, "Honoring Those Who Cared for You"; and
 
WHEREAS, Rev. Hale has devoted his life to religion, politics and community service.  He was a Baptist minister for more than 60 years, he served as a member of the Ohio House of Representatives from 1966 through 1980 and served on the Ohio Civil Rights Commission from 1987 to 1992; and
 
WHEREAS, Mrs. Hale has also devoted her life to one of service to others and was most recently recognized by the Baptist Ministerial Alliance as the recipient of their 2004 "Shining Light Award"; and
 
WHEREAS, Rev. & Mrs. Hale are both being honored for their outstanding work in the community and advocacy for changes that ensure our citizens' most basic needs are being met; and,
 
WHEREAS, Rev. & Mrs. Hale have been guiding lights in our community and have ministered to the spiritual, intellectual, and emotional needs of all people by spreading Christ's liberating gospel through word and deed; now, therefore,
 
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
 
That this Council does hereby honor and congratulate Rev. & Mrs. Hale for being selected as the first recipients of the Heritage Award for Caring.
