Explanation
Need: An appropriation and authorization is needed to pay monies the Columbus Division of Police owes the Franklin County Sheriff's Office for their share of proceeds stemming from a joint investigation. The deposited monies from this case have already been disbursed per previous court order as of January 22, 2007 in which the Franklin County Sheriff's Office did not receive a part of the proceeds. Both the City and the County are in agreement on the amount as $27,100.31.

Emergency designation: Emergency legislation is necessary to enable the most expedient payment to the Franklin County Sheriff's Office.
FISCAL IMPACT:
There will be no fiscal impact for the City General Fund Account. The funds awaiting appropriation and disbursement to the county are in the CPD Law Enforcement Drug Seizure Fund.

To authorize an appropriation from the CPD Law Enforcement Drug Seizure Fund and to authorize the Director of Public Safety of the City of Columbus to reimburse $27,100.31 to the Franklin County Sheriff's Office for their share of the seized proceeds and to declare an emergency. ($27,100.31)

WHEREAS, the City of Columbus Division of Police has been a participant and recipient of proceeds stemming from a joint investigation between CPD and the FCSO; and
WHEREAS, the City received and deposited the proceeds from Case No. 05CR-4389 into the Division's Law Enforcement Drug Seizure Fund; and
WHEREAS, the Franklin County Sheriff's Office was to share the proceeds equally with the Columbus Division of Police; and
WHEREAS, it is necessary to pay the Franklin County Sheriff's Office as expediently as possible to disburse proceeds for their participation in the joint investigation; and
