Explanation
1. BACKGROUND: This legislation authorizes the Director of Public Utilities to execute a construction contract and a professional engineering services contract modification in connection with Part 2 of the Blacklick Sanitary Interceptor Sewer Capacity Augmentation Project.
The construction contract ($5,187,926.00) will be awarded to Complete General Construction; and the professional engineering services contract modification (597,190.00) will be executed with URS Corporation in order to provide engineering services during construction; construction administration and inspection services.
2. CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT AWARD: The Director of Public Utilities publicly opened three competitive bids that were received on May 14, 2003, from Complete General Construction Company, Inc., Kokosing Construction Company, Inc., and the George J. Igel & Company, Inc. Contract award is recommended to the lowest, best, responsive and responsible bidder, the Complete General Construction Company, Inc.
3. PROFESSIONAL ENGINEERING SERVICES MOD. AWARD: This agreement is the planned final modification for this project's contract services. It will provide the engineering services during construction, construction administration and inspection services for Part 2 of this project that will extend the subtrunk from Refugee Road to Interstate I-70. URS Corp. provided these same services for the recently completed Part 1 of this project, and the Division of Sewerage and Drainage has determined it to be in the best interest of the City to utilize this contract for providing these services. The costs for this modification are consistent with those provided for under the existing contract. The contract amount including this modification is $1,545,836.42.
