Explanation
BACKGROUND: The Board of Health has a need to make funds available to increase a contract with Children's Hospital. The Columbus Health Department has been awarded an additional grant award of $174,081, for a total grant award in the amount of $3,877,959 in grant funds from the Ohio Department of Health to fund the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Program for the period October 1, 2004 through September 30, 2005. The Columbus Health Department has been designated as the primary grantee agency and administrator for all WIC programs in Franklin County. The grant funds awarded provide for an increased contract with Children's Hospital for an additional amount not to exceed $25,955, and for an increased contract not to exceed $358,977, for the operation of a WIC clinic at their facility. The contract compliance number for Children's Hospital is 31-4379441
The contract period is October 1, 2004 through September 30, 2005.
Emergency action is requested in order to avoid any delays in providing program services.
FISCAL IMPACT: The Women, Infants and Children Program is entirely funded by the Ohio Department of Health. This program does not generate any revenue or require a City match.

WHEREAS, The Ohio Department of Health has designated the Board of Health as primary grantee agency and fund administrator for all WIC programs in Franklin County; and,
