Explanation
BACKGROUND: This legislation will authorize the Department of Technology (DoT) Director to modify and extend a contract associated with purchase order EL003556, for services related to software maintenance and support, with Veritas Software Global, LLC. The Veritas software system has been employed within multiple City agencies. Now, the City has a need to maintain this software application that supports city business operation systems; provide information backup; system recovery services; and provide a foundation for future disaster recovery capabilities.
Services provided under this agreement will include telephone support, software updates and maintenance support, with a coverage period of January 1, 2005 through March 31, 2006, in the amount of $65,710.00.
FISCAL IMPACT: Fiscal year 2003, $251,848.30 was expended toward services provided by Veritas Software Global, LLC. Thus far this year, $30,234.23 has been expended. Funding for this ordinance, in the amount of $65,710.00, is budgeted and available within the 2004 Department of Technology, information services fund, with a coverage period from January 1, 2005 through March 31, 2006.
EMERGENCY:
Emergency legislation is requested in order to facilitate prompt contract execution and related payment for services associated with the Veritas software.
