To Recognize March 2025 as “Women’s History Month” in the City of Columbus

Body
WHEREAS, Women’s History Month is observed annually in March to honor and celebrate the importance of women throughout the history of the United States, and;
WHEREAS, women have played an essential role in shaping our nation’s political, social, economic, and cultural institutions through creativity, passion, and hard work, often overcoming significant barriers, and;
WHEREAS, the contributions of women in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics have driven groundbreaking discoveries, enhanced technological advancements, and shaped the modern world through innovation in medicine, environmental science, electrical engineering, physics, and numerous other fields, and;
WHEREAS, women have been at the forefront of movements advocating for civil rights, emancipation, labor rights, reproductive justice, and gender equality, striving to create a more representative society, yet women continue to be underrepresented in leadership roles across government, business, and academia, highlighting the ongoing need for gender equity initiatives, and;
WHEREAS, the ratification of the 19th Amendment and the enactment of the Voting Rights Act of 165 was a significant milestone in securing women’s right to vote, yet barriers to full political participation persist for many women, particularly women of color, and;
WHEREAS, Women’s History Month provides an opportunity to educate and inspire future generations by recognizing the achievements of trailblazing women from all backgrounds; and
WHEREAS, it is imperative to continue supporting and developing policies and initiatives that promote equal opportunities and protections for all women, ensuring a more inclusive and equitable society; now, therefore,
