Explanation
Background
This ordinance will authorize the Director of Recreation and Parks to enter into a not-for-profit services contract with LifeCare Alliance in connection with the Senior Farmer's Market Nutrition Program for the period June 1, 2024, through November 30, 2024.
This program will provide vouchers for seniors to redeem with local organized markets, including the North Market, in various Central Ohio counties. Approximately 5,100 individuals are expected to receive vouchers.
EMERGENCY DESIGNATION:
Emergency action is requested so that the program can be implemented by June 1, 2024, in accordance with grant conditions.
This ordinance is contingent upon the passage of Ordinance 1475-2024.

FISCAL IMPACT
This legislation authorizes the expenditure of $24,953.00 from the Recreation and Parks Grant fund for the initial award, with any additional grant awards received up to $50,000.00 to total $74,953.00.
A total of $242,000.00 and $241,033.00 were paid to LifeCare Alliance in 2022 and 2023, respectively, for the Senior Farmer’s Market Nutrition Program, bringing the aggregate amount for the three years to $507,986.00.
