Explanation
This legislation authorizes the transfer and appropriation of funds from the Finance and Management citywide account for claims, settlements and outside counsel into the City Attorney's Office account so funds will be available for outside counsel.

To authorize and direct the City Auditor to transfer and appropriate Twenty-five Thousand Dollars within the general fund from the Finance and Management Department to the City Attorney's Office for special legal counsel services and to declare an emergency. ($25,000.00)

WHEREAS, from time to time it becomes necessary for the City Attorney to engage outside counsel; and
WHEREAS, funds for these expenses are currently budgeted and available in the Finance and Management citywide account, and
WHEREAS, an emergency exists in the usual daily operation of the City in that it is immediately necessary for the public peace, health, safety and welfare of the City to transfer and appropriate Twenty-five Thousand Dollars ($25,000.00) of these funds to the City Attorney's Office. Now, therefore,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS, OHIO:
SECTION 1. That the City Auditor be and hereby is authorized and directed to transfer and appropriate Twenty-five Thousand Dollars ($25,000.00) within the general fund, fund number 010 from the Finance and Management Department, department 45-01, object level three 5501, organization cost account 904508 to the City Attorney's Office, department 24-01, object level three 3324, organization cost account 240101.
SECTION 2. That the monies appropriated in foregoing Section 1 shall be paid upon order of the City Attorney; and that no order shall be drawn or money paid except by voucher, the form of which shall be approved by the City Auditor.
