Explanation
BACKGROUND: Columbus Public Health has been awarded a grant from the Ohio Department of Health originating from U.S. Department of Health and Human Services CDC. This ordinance is needed to accept and appropriate $50,000.000 in grant monies to fund the Public Health Workforce Accreditation grant program, for the period May 1, 2025 through November 30, 2027.
These funds will be used to support Public Health accreditation. Public Health accreditation assures that CPH meets the highest standards set forth for health departments throughout the nation. Meeting these standards provides the foundation for staff to be able to best serve those who work, live and play within the jurisdiction.
Emergency action is requested to allow the financial transaction to be posted in the City's accounting system as soon as possible. Up to date financial posting promotes accurate accounting and financial management.
FISCAL IMPACT: Public Health Workforce Accreditation grant program is entirely funded by the Ohio Department of Health and does not generate revenue or require a City match. ($50,000.00)
