Explanation
BACKGROUND: Columbus Public Health has been awarded a grant from the Ohio Commission on Minority Health. This ordinance is needed to accept and appropriate $52,500.00 in grant monies to fund the SFY24 Minority Health grant program, for the period July 1, 2023 through June 30, 2024.
The Minority Health grant program will address health disparities through culturally-tailored interventions to improve the health of minority populations in the City of Columbus. In SFY24, the grant projects to continue serving 25,000 Columbus residents in person and through virtual platforms.
FISCAL IMPACT: The SFY24 Minority Health grant program is fully funded by the Ohio Commission on Minority Health and does not generate revenue or require a City match to be held in account. ($52,500.00)

To authorize and direct the Board of Health to accept grant funds from the Ohio Commission on Minority Health in the amount of $52,500.00 and any additional funds for the SFY24 Minority Health grant program; to authorize the appropriation of $52,500.00 and any additional funds from the unappropriated balance of the Health Department Grants Fund; and to authorize the City Auditor to transfer appropriations between object classes for the SFY24 Minority Health grant program. WHEREAS, $52,500.00 in grant funds have been made available through the Ohio Commission on Minority Health for the SFY24 Minority Health grant program for the period of July 1, 2023 through June 30, 2024; and,
