Explanation
1. BACKGROUND
This Division of Design and Construction is engaged in the Resurfacing - Zone 5 Project and the Division of Mobility Options is engaged in the Pedestrian Safety Improvements - Hague/Valleyview Safe Routes to Schools (SRTS) Project. This ordinance authorizes the Director of Public Service to enter into agreements with the Franklin County Engineer to authorize the Department of Public Service to perform work in these projects for the Franklin County Engineer and for the Franklin County Engineer to provide funding for these projects.
Resurfacing - Zone 5:
Work to be performed for Franklin County includes rehabilitate and resurface Franklin County's portion of Shannon Road beginning at a point 1,055 feet east of Shannon Green Drive to a point 1,517 feet east of Shannon Green Drive (approx. 462 feet in length). The work consists of milling the existing pavement, overlaying with new asphalt concrete and the installation of the aggregate berm and thermoplastic pavement markings with raised pavement markers. Where warranted, the plans also call for areas of full depth pavement repair.
Pedestrian Safety Improvements - Hague/Valleyview Safe Routes to Schools (SRTS)
The project will build a shared use path on Valleyview Drive and Hague Avenue. This crosses an existing Franklin County culvert on Hague Avenue which the county has agreed to replace and pay for 80% of the design and construction costs. The balance of the culvert construction is funded by a portion of the Safe Routes to School grant of $500,000.

Franklin County's estimated share of this project is $27,721.03.
