Explanation
BACKGROUND: The purpose of this ordinance is to amend ordinance 3072-2024, which authorized the purchase of drones, software, and accessories from a Universal Term Contract with Axon Enterprise Inc. Instead, the Division of Police requests to waive the competitive bidding provisions of the Columbus City Code and award a contract to Axon Enterprise Inc for the purchase of drones, software, and accessories. This is necessary because it was determined that the drones, software, and accessories are not a part of the Universal Term Contract and cannot be added.
This ordinance amends Ordinance 3072-2024, which was passed by City Council on December 16, 2024.
Bid Information: The Division of Police requests to waive the competitive bidding provisions of the Columbus City Code in order to keep within the same technology configuration and allow for seamless integration with other Axon devices in use by the Division. This uniformity greatly increases efficiencies and effectiveness.
