To honor and recognize the 26th running of the Columbus Marathon and the first ever Columbus Marathon - Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey Circus Red Nose Children's Run.   
 
Body
WHEREAS, the 26th running of the Columbus Marathon and Columbus Marathon Relay will occur on October 16, 2005, and
WHEREAS, the Columbus Marathon has built a great tradition in Columbus by attracting elite runners from across the world and growing to become the 18th largest marathon in the United States, and
WHEREAS, the Columbus Marathon is known for its fast flat course where runners experience a scenic tour of Columbus, passing through many Columbus neighborhoods and dozens of landmarks, and
WHEREAS, the Columbus Marathon has many exciting events scheduled to occur during this year's race including 12 neighborhood parties and numerous concerts, and
WHEREAS, the Columbus Marathon is partnering with the Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey Circus and the Columbus Department of Recreation and Parks to bring the excitement of a marathon to children of all ages with the first ever Red Nose Run on October 15, 2005, now; therefore
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
That we applaud the Columbus Marathon for their efforts to bring a first class event to the City of Columbus and wish all marathon participants the best of luck as they strive to achieve their personal goals.
