Explanation
1. BACKGROUND:
A. Need. This legislation authorizes the Director of Public Utilities to enter into a construction contract with Capitol City Electric, LLC, for the Castle Road Pump Station, Pump Control Retrofit project for the Division of Sewerage and Drainage. This contract Work consists of the staged replacement of three (3) across the line starters, for the sanitary sewer pumps, with three soft start motor controllers.
The contracts were advertised in the City Bulletin, and one bid was received on July 2, 2008, as follows:
1. Capitol City Electric, LLC | Majority Firm | $391,751.00
The Engineer's construction cost estimate was $360,000.00.
Award is recommended to the lowest and best bidder.
B. Contract Compliance No.: 760774593-001 (MAJ) (Expires: 10/26/08)
C. Emergency Designation: Emergency designation is requested for this ordinance as the existing pumping station systems are operating under stress that could lead to pump station outages.
2. FISCAL IMPACT:
This ordinance authorizes the transfer of funds from within the Sanitary Sewer Revenue Bonds Fund for this expenditure. This ordinance also authorizes the amendment of the 2008 Capital Improvements Budget so as to provide necessary authority for this expenditure upon passage of this ordinance.
