Title: To support the application of the Columbus Recreation and Parks Department for Clean Ohio Trail Funds from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources for the Alum Creek Trail Development, from Mock Park to Innis Park, and to declare an emergency.
Explanation

Background:
An application is being submitted to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources for a Clean Ohio Trail Fund grant.

The application is for $ 485,000 to be used for development of the Alum Creek Greenway, between Mock Park and Innis Park.

The City's matching portion of this grant is to come from capital improvement bond funding.

Emergency action is requested so this Resolution of Support can be included in the grant application package.

Fiscal Impact:
$ 485,000 in grant funding is being applied for and requested from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources.

Body

Whereas, the Ohio Department of Natural Resources is accepting applications for grant funding from the Clean Ohio Trails Fund; and

Whereas, the Recreation and Parks Department wishes to apply for said funding for development of the Alum Creek Trail---Mock Park to Innis Park; and

Whereas, The City of Columbus recognizes the important value of this regional greenway; and,

Whereas, The City of Columbus will be responsible for future maintenance of the improvements; and,

Whereas, The City of Columbus will share in the project costs, an amount to be appropriated in future legislation; and,

Whereas, an emergency exists in the usual daily operation of the Recreation and Parks Department in that is immediately necessary to apply for said grant for the preservation of public health, peace, property, and safety; now, therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
