1. BACKGROUND
This legislation authorizes the Director of Public Service to grant consent and propose cooperation with the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) relative to the D06/D12 VAR DMS & QWS project, PID 122200.
The aforementioned effort encompasses installing five queue detection systems, which include analytical cameras to measure slowed traffic, dynamic message signs, and sign trusses, at various locations along I-71, I-70, I-270, I-670 and SR-315.
2. FISCAL IMPACT
There is no anticipated cost to the City for this project, as ODOT shall assume and bear all associated preliminary engineering, right-of-way acquisition, and construction costs.
3. EMERGENCY DESIGNATION
Emergency action is requested to enable the Department of Public Service to return a certified copy of this legislation to ODOT on or before February 5, 2026, so as to ensure that the project proceeds in a timely manner.

WHEREAS, this improvement project is within the Columbus corporate boundaries; and
