Explanation
This ordinance authorizes the Board of Health to enter into a contract with the Franklin County Board of Health for services to Columbus and Franklin County residents in a total amount not to exceed $24,000. In accordance with a grant received from the State of Ohio, the Ohio Department of Health has designated $24,000 for cardiovascular health education services with Franklin County Board of Health for the Cardiovascular Health Grant for the period of January 1, 2005 through December 31, 2005.
This contract was awarded in accordance with provisions of Section 329.02 of the Columbus City Code.
Emergency action is requested in order to avoid delays in the implementation of the grant program.
FISCAL IMPACT: Funds for this expenditure are budgeted in the 2005 Health Department Grants Fund.

WHEREAS, the Board of Health wishes to enter into a contract with the Franklin County Board of Health for the period of January 1, 2005through December 31, 2005 and,
WHEREAS, the Ohio Department of Health has awarded the Franklin County Board of Health $24,000 as part of the Cardiovascular Health Grant Program; and,
WHEREAS, an emergency exists in the usual daily operation of the Health Department in that it is immediately necessary to enter into a contract with the Franklin County Board of Health to avoid delays in the implementation of the grant program for the immediate preservation of the public health, peace, property, safety and welfare; Now, therefore,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
