Title
To congratulate Beth Wagenbrenner, recipient of the 2005 Central Ohio AFL-CIO Scouting Awards, for outstanding service to youth through the programs of the Boy Scouts of America or Girl Scouts of the U.S.A.
Body
WHEREAS, The George Meany Awards Banquet, the largest labor recognition of its kind in the country, is a night for the Central Ohio AFL-CIO and the United Way Community Services Department to recognize local business and labor leaders who have given outstanding volunteer service to the community; and
WHEREAS, The Central Ohio AFL-CIO Scouting Awards are local recognitions presented to male and female union members for outstanding service to youth through the programs of the Boy Scouts of America or Girl Scouts of the U.S.A; and
WHEREAS, this year's recipient of the 2005 Central Ohio AFL-CIO Girl Scout Award, Beth Wagenbrenner, Ohio Association of Public & School Employees (OAPSE)/AFSCME #150 at Centennial High School, has been involved in Girl Scouts since she herself was a girl scout grades 1-10; became a troop leader in 1995, and continues to be a leader with both of her daughter's troops, as co-leader for Troop 745, and assistant leader for Troop 2472; recognized for some of her troops' community service, including the purchase, packaging and donating of items to food pantries; sending cookies and cards to soldiers in Iraq; visiting and singing at nursing homes; knitting and crocheting scarves along with collecting coats to donate to needy families; painting a fence at Ridgeview Middle School; and planting flowers at Gables Elementary School; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
That this Council does hereby congratulate the recipient of the 2005 Central Ohio AFL-CIO Girl Scout Award, Beth Wagenbrenner, whose outstanding service to youth through the Girl Scouts of the U.S.A has made a significant contribution to the City of Columbus.
