Explanation
BACKGROUND: The Department of Public Safety, Division of Fire received a grant award in the amount of $3,264.88 from the Ohio Division of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) for EMS training and for the purchase of emergency medical equipment. This legislation authorizes the Public Safety Director to accept the grant award and appropriates the grant funds. This grant allows for the purchase of EMS training equipment used by the Fire Division for paramedic training; including airway training, AED and EKG diagnostics, immobilization and extrication equipment, and mass casualty training equipment. The Fire Division intends to repair current CPR manikins during this grant cycle, as manikins are a staple of paramedic training in the Fire Division.

WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the City of Columbus for the Public Safety Director to accept a grant award from the State of Ohio Division of EMS for the Division of Fire for the purchase of EMS training equipment; and
