Explanation
The Public Service Department, Transportation Division, requires pedestrian signal fiber optic inserts, traffic signal control cabinets, conflict monitors, control cabinet extenders, closed loop system masters and modems to perform its mission of promoting pedestrian safety and traffic control.
These commodities are available for purchase per the terms and conditions of two (2) existing citywide universal term contracts with Path Master, Incorporated, contract compliance number 34-1233777 (expires May 10, 2008). This legislation authorizes the purchase of these commodities per these contracts to meet the Transportation Division's anticipated needs for the balance of 2006 and early 2007 in the amount of $257,765.00.
Fiscal Impact: Funds for these expenditures are budgeted and available within the Transportation Division's 2006 Capital Improvements Budget in the 1995, 1999, 2004 Voted Streets and Highways Fund in the pedestrian safety improvements and traffic signal installation projects. The division was authorized to spend $808,706.00 in 2003 (Ordinances 0831-2003 and 1667-2003), $325,250.50 in 2004 (Ordinances 0265-2004, 0313-2004 and 0545-2004), $1,503,678.00 in 2005 (Ordinances 0289-2005, 1792-2005 and 1839-2005) and $909,800.00 in 2006 (year-to-date) (Ordinances 0740-2006 and 1030-2006) for these and similar commodities.
Emergency action is requested to provide for an uninterrupted supply of these commodities that are critical to the division's programs that promote and enhance pedestrian and motorist safety and traffic control.
