Title
To honor and recognize Josh Frazier as winner of "The Common Good 2004" contest.
Body
WHEREAS, Josh Frazier is a senior and honor student at Marion Franklin High School. He is one of eleven winners in "The Common Good", a national contest sponsored by Time Warner Cable and C-SPAN in which participants developed projects exploring the campaign and election process; and
WHEREAS, Josh wrote and produced a video titled, "A Politician's Promise," which compares campaign promises made by President George W. Bush with those by the fictional Charles Foster Kane, who ran for office in the movie "Citizen Kane", and
WHEREAS, more than 200 students from high schools in the Time Warner Cable service area participated in the contest. Students were challenged to respond to the timely question "Is the Common Good Served by Today's Campaign and Election Process?" and
WHEREAS, winners and their teachers have been awarded an all expenses paid trip to Washington, D.C. where they will participate in a "behind the scenes" day at C-SPAN, engage in daily seminars, visit Capitol Hill to meet with state representatives and staffers, and enjoy excursions to historic sights; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
That this Council does hereby honor and congratulate Josh Frazier as winner of "The Common Good 2004" contest.
