Explanation
1. BACKGROUND
The Ohio Department of Transportation annually accepts applications to fund projects using Highway Safety Program funds. The Safety Program Committee has reviewed the applications submitted this year and has made decisions on funding projects. These grants require a 10% local match.
This legislation will authorize the Director of Public Service to execute project agreements for approved projects and expend grant funds.
2. AWARDED PROJECTS
The Department of Public Service has received notification of grant awards for the following projects:
FRA-CR 0008 03.67 - Intersection Improvements - Agler Road/Cassady Avenue: Add warning signs; convert thru lanes on three approaches to right-turn only; and reconstruct the existing traffic signal. This project has been approved for up to $545,032.67 in Construction funds for FY 2017.
FRA-CR 0505 02.65 - Intersection Improvements - Central Avenue/Harrisburg Pike at Mound Street: Resurface Mound Street to modify lane assignments and directional marking; reconstruct traffic signals; and convert the northbound lane left-turn lane to protected only. This project has been approved for up to $538,310.00 in Construction funds for FY 2017.
FRA Parsons Avenue Sidewalks PID 90818: Provide sidewalks and bus shelter pads along Parsons Avenue from Obetz Road to Dering Avenue. This project has been approved for up to $2,750,818.00 in Construction funds for FY 2017.
3. FISCAL IMPACT
No financial participation is required at this time. City funds will be approved in the form of design contracts and/or construction contracts that will be submitted for council's approval.
