Explanation
An application is being submitted to the Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission for a trail development grant.
The application is to be used for development of the Scioto Trail Greenway, Riversedge to Fifth Avenue. Work will include extending the existing trail 0.82 miles, from the south end of Riversedge to the intersection of Fifth Ave. and Riverside Drive.
The City's matching portion of this grant is to come from capital improvement bond funding.
Emergency action is requested so the legislation can be included in the grant application package.

To authorize the Director of Recreation and Parks to submit a grant application to the Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission for Transportation Enhancement Funds for the Scioto Trail Greenway, Riversedge to 5th Ave; and to declare an emergency.

Whereas, the Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission is accepting applications for grant funding from the federal Transportation Enhancement Fund; and
Whereas, the Recreation and Parks Department wishes to apply for said funding for development of the Scioto Trail---Riversedge to Fifth Avenue; and
Whereas, the City wishes to cooperate with the City of Grandview Heights, the City of Upper Arlington, and the Village of Marble Cliff in this trail extension; and
Whereas, an emergency exists in the usual daily operation of the Recreation and Parks Department in that is immediately necessary to apply for said grant for the preservation of public health, peace, property, and safety; now, therefore
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL FO THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
Section 1. That the Director of Recreation and Parks be and is hereby authorized and directed to submit a grant application in the amount of to the Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission for Transportation Enhancement Funds.
