Explanation

This ordinance accepts the collective bargaining agreement between the City of Columbus and FOP/Ohio Labor Council, Inc., covering the period April 2, 2010 through April 1, 2013.

All Articles of this agreement and attachments thereto have been approved by the City and the Union. A signed agreement will be on file in the Department of Human Resources.

Emergency action is recommended because certain provisions of the collective bargaining agreement are effective on a retroactive basis.

The fiscal impact was summarized in a memorandum to City Council, dated May 10, 2010.

To accept the proposed collective bargaining agreement between the City of Columbus and FOP/Ohio Labor Council, Inc., April 2, 2010 -April 1, 2013, to provide for wages, hours and other terms and conditions of employment for employees in the bargaining units as provided in the attachment hereto; and to declare an emergency.


Body

WHEREAS, an emergency exists in the usual daily operation of the City in that it is immediately necessary to accept the collective bargaining agreement negotiated between the City and FOP/Ohio Labor Council, Inc., April 2, 2010 -April 1, 2013, to provide for wages, hours and other terms and conditions of employment for employees in the bargaining unit, thereby preserving the public peace, property, health, safety, and welfare; Now, Therefore

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:

Section 1. The Council of the City of Columbus hereby accepts the proposed collective bargaining agreement between the City and the FOP/Ohio Labor Council, Inc. attached hereto and incorporated herein in its entirety as if fully rewritten herein, to establish the wages, hours and other terms and conditions of employment for employees in the bargaining units, as specified and stated in the attachment hereto.
