Explanation
BACKGROUND: During the recent consolidation of the Grants Division within the Department of Public Safety, a discrepancy was discovered within the remaining cash balance for a Columbus Fire Department grant. G342100, titled “DOJ OJP COSSAP RREACT” has a balance of $26,640.43 and ended on 9/30/2024. This ordinance authorizes a transfer of $26,640.43 within the grant from OC 01 to OC 10 and a transfer of that amount from the grant to the general fund.
EMERGENCY DESIGNATION: Emergency legislation is necessary so that the transfer can be completed to close-out the grant, as G342100 ended on 9/30/2024 and should have been closed out as soon as possible after it ended.
FISCAL IMPACT: This ordinance authorizes the City Auditor to process a transfer of $26,640.43 from DOJ OJP COSSAP RREACT - G342100 to the General Fund; and to allow for the close out of the grant.

WHEREAS, during the close out of the DOJ OJP COSSAP RREACT Grant Program, a discrepancy was discovered within the remaining cash; and,
WHEREAS, it is necessary to authorize the City Auditor to process a transfer of $26,640.43 from DOJ OJP COSSAP RREACT - G342100 to the General Fund; and,
WHEREAS, an emergency exists in the usual daily operation of the Department of Public Safety in that it is immediately necessary to authorize the transfer so the grant close out can be finalized, for the immediate preservation of the public peace, property, health, safety, and welfare; NOW, THEREFORE:
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
SECTION 1. That the City Auditor is hereby authorized to process a transfer of $26,640.43 from DOJ OJP COSSAP RREACT - G342100 to the General Fund per the accounting codes in the attachments to this ordinance.
