Explanation
Background:
This ordinance will authorize the Director of Recreation and Parks to enter into a contract with Watson-Shonebarger General for the Holton Park Improvements.
Five bids were received by the Recreation and Parks Department on October 31, 2006, for the Holton Park Improvements, as follows:

Services will include Park and Recreation Center Improvements.
A contingency amount of $20,000.00 is being included in this project
Contract Compliance Number for Watson-Shonebarger General is #31-1429409.
Emergency action is necessary to allow project to begin as soon as possible.
Fiscal Impact:
$235,178.92 is budgeted in the Recreation and Parks Voted 1999/2004 Bond Fund to meet the financial obligation of this project.

WHEREAS, bids were received by the Recreation and Parks Department on October 31, 2006, and the contract for the Holton Park Improvements will be awarded on the basis of the lowest and best responsive and responsible bidder; and
WHEREAS, an emergency exists in the usual daily operation of the Recreation and Parks Department in that it is immediately necessary to enter into contract to allow work to begin as soon as possible; now, therefore
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
