Explanation
This ordinance authorizes the City Clerk to enter into a grant agreement with the Greater Columbus Irish Cultural Foundation, Inc. in support of the 2027 Proclamation Day at Columbus City Hall and St. Patrick’s Day parade.

Proclamation Day takes place in Columbus City Council Chambers and is held to acknowledge the Irish community and their historic contributions to the City of Columbus. All central Ohio Irish organizations gather on that day to recognize their respective members of the year and to make contributions to local charities. The Columbus St. Patrick's Day parade is held on March 17th, and Columbus is the largest city in the United States to hold their St. Patrick's Day parade on March 17th of every year. The parade processes through downtown Columbus, rain or shine. The current parade proceeds up Broad and High Streets to the convention center.

The Greater Columbus Irish Cultural Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization that was formed in 1989 as the Shamrock Club Cultural Foundation by the Shamrock Club of Columbus to promote Irish heritage, history, and to encourage the awareness and appreciation of Irish culture and traditions.

Fiscal Impact: Funding in the amount of $20,000.00 is available within the Neighborhood Initiatives subfund.
