Explanation
1. Background
In 1930, 1957, 1961, 1964, 1974, and 1980, pursuant to Ordinances 435-30, 331-57, 884-61, 46-64, 707-74, and 1006-80 the City of Columbus vacated portions of right-of-way, being alleys and streets, running east and west and north and south and were subject to a general utility easement.
The Department of Public Service recently received a request from the property owner, Columbus State Community College, asking that the City release the easements over the property they own at 165 North Washington Avenue, Columbus Ohio 43203, Franklin County Parcel number 010-033868, to clear title. After receiving this request, the Department of Public Service Division of Infrastructure Management verified with all public and private utility companies that there are no public utilities or need for these easements located within the requested area, and that they have no objections to these portions of easements being released.
The following legislation authorizes the Director of the Department of Public Service to execute those documents necessary to release the portion of easements as described within the referenced legislation and within the property lines as shown within the attached exhibit, to allow for the property to clear title.
2. Fiscal Impact
The City will receive a total of $500.00, to be deposited in Fund 7748, Project P537650, for granting the request to release the easements.
