To Celebrate and Recognize the Esther Chapter #3, Order of the Eastern Star, Prince Hall Affiliation on its 141st Anniversary

WHEREAS, Esther Chapter #3, Order of the Eastern Star, Prince Hall Affiliation, was established February 8, 1882, as the third subordinate Prince Hall Affiliated Chapter in the State of Ohio. Serving at that time as Worthy Matron was Sis. Eliza J. Taylor, and as Worthy Patron was Bro. J.J. Sparrow; and
WHEREAS, Membership in the chapter has grown steadily throughout the years giving support to the community through service initiatives and partnerships with local organizations, such as sending personal care items to the elderly at various nursing centers, giving school supplies to needy children, providing necessities for children in homeless shelters, and donating to scholarship funds to assist in the pursuit of higher education; and
WHEREAS, Esther Chapter #3 members over the 141 years of existence have worked tirelessly to uphold the principles of charity, benevolence and service upon which the Chapter was founded; and
WHEREAS, the Columbus City Council proclaims February 8th, 2023 as Esther Chapter #3 Day in Columbus and encourages all Columbus residents to join in this observance; therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS: That we hereby honor, recognize and celebrate the contributions of the Esther Chapter #3, Order of the Eastern Star, Prince Hall Affiliation, in their service and dedication to the advancement of the Columbus community.
