Explanation
Background:
This ordinance will authorize various expenditures for labor, materials and equipment in conjunction with parkland improvements and security.
Improvements will include site clearing, surveys, fencing, signage, etc. to help with managing City of Columbus parkland.
All work will be based on three estimates obtained from qualified contractors and will not exceed $20,000.00 per job.
Emergency legislation is required to allow these projects to proceed in a timely manner.
Fiscal Impact:
$30,000.00 is required and budgeted in the Recreation and Parks Special Purpose Fund to meet the financial obligations of these various expenditures.

To authorize the expenditure of $30,000.00 for various parkland improvements from the Recreation and Parks Special Purpose Fund, and to declare an emergency. ($30,000.00)
Body
WHEREAS, various parkland improvements are necessary within the Recreation and Parks Department; and
WHEREAS, an emergency exists in the usual daily operation of the Recreation and Parks Department in that it is immediately necessary to expend said funds for the preservation of public health, peace, property and safety; now, therefore
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
SECTION 1. That the purchase of labor, materials and equipment is necessary for various parkland improvements within the Recreation and Parks Department.
SECTION 2. That the expenditure of $30,000.00, or so much thereof as may be necessary, be and is hereby authorized from Recreation and Parks Special Purpose Fund 223, as follows, to pay the cost thereof. All work will be based on three estimates and will not exceed $20,000.00 per contract or job.
