1. BACKGROUND
From time to time, the City of Columbus, Department of Public Service, Division of Design and Construction is in need of surveying services for in-house design projects throughout the City. The Department of Public Service employs personnel that are engaged in surveying activities that are supportive, capable, and able to assist in the preparation of design, right-of-way, and construction plans for City projects. Costs incurred for the salaries, overhead, overtime, materials and other direct costs for these services can be capitalized, and thus need a source of funding to pay for these activities. This ordinance authorizes the expenditure of $40,000.00 or so much thereof as may be necessary for this purpose.

2. FISCAL IMPACT
Funding for this expenditure is available and appropriated within Fund 7704, the Street and Highway Bond Fund.

WHEREAS, the Department of Public Service employs personnel that are engaged in surveying work and incurs various salary and material expenses in support of the Department of Public Service capital projects; and

WHEREAS, it is necessary to authorize this expenditure in order to provide adequate resources for the Division of Design and Construction; and

WHEREAS, it is necessary to establish an Auditor’s Certificate for projects that require in-house surveying work; and now, therefore

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:

SECTION 1. That the City Auditor is authorized to establish an Auditor's Certificate totaling $40,000.00 for the payment of surveying services for in-house design projects.
