To Congratulate Robin Baradarvar as the 2025 George Meany Youth Services Award Recipient.

 

Body

 

WHEREAS, the George Meany Awards Banquet, the largest labor recognition of its kind in the country, is a night for the Central Ohio AFL-CIO and the United Way Community Services Department to recognize local business and labor leaders who have given outstanding volunteer service to the community; and

 

WHEREAS, the George Meany Awards, named after the late George Meany, former President of the national AFL-CIO, are presented by the Central Ohio AFL-CIO to a labor person for outstanding leadership and support of health, welfare, and recreation services to the Central Ohio Community; and

 

WHEREAS, Robin Baradarvar is a 16-year-old junior at Centennial High School in the Columbus City Schools District; and

 

WHEREAS, Robin is an active member of the National Honor Society and participates in student leadership; and

 

WHEREAS, Robin is deeply involved in his community, regularly volunteering at the Kaleidoscope Youth Center, the largest and longest-standing organization in Ohio solely dedicated to serving and supporting LGBTQIA+ youth. He served on KYC’s Summer Institute Program, and was a part of KYC’s Community Advisory Board in 2024; and

 

WHEREAS, through these activities, Robin’s work uplifts youth and gives all people in the community an opportunity to develop crucial skills, build relationships, and thrive; now therefore,

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:

That we hereby congratulate Robin Baradarvar as the 2025 George Meany Youth Services Award recipient.
