To honor and recognize the Neighborhood House, Inc. on the occasion of its 105th Annual Meeting.
Body
WHEREAS, the Neighborhood House, Inc. (NHI) is a private, non-profit, 501(c)3 organization that was established in 1909 by the St. Paul Episcopal Church of Columbus, Ohio; and
WHEREAS, NHI is a settlement house that provides childcare (infants, toddlers, preschool, school age); afterschool program, outpatient drug & alcohol counseling, food pantry, senior transportation, volunteer services, infant mortality reduction program, fiduciary services, and information and referrals; and
WHEREAS, the target population for the above services are low and moderate income individuals and families who primarily reside on the Near East Side; and
WHEREAS, NHI serves as a field placement site for Ohio State University Social Work Department and Columbus State College, as well as other colleges and universities; and
WHEREAS, NHI has been a charter member of United Way of Franklin County since the early 1900's. The agency is a member of the Columbus Federation of Settlements and Alliance for Children & Families; and
WHEREAS, NHI holds a Certificate of Accreditation from the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC); and
WHEREAS, the Neighborhood House, Inc. exists to assist children, all families and single adults in their efforts to become self-sufficient and serves as an important and helpful resource in our community; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
That we hereby honor and recognize the Neighborhood House, Inc. on the occasion of its 105th Annual Meeting.
