Explanation

BACKGROUND:
This legislation authorizes the Director of Development to modify Contract Number DL003826 with the Columbus Downtown Development Corporation (CDDC). This contract provides the CDDC with funding to implement and oversee downtown development projects and programs as well as forge public-private partnerships with the goal of generating private investment for downtown. The modifications will extend the contract four months and provide additional funding to allow services to continue through December 31, 2003.

FISCAL IMPACT:
The 2003 General Fund Budget for the Downtown Development Office includes $50,000 for a contract with the CDDC. These funds will allow the contract to be continued to December 31, 2003.

WHEREAS, the Director of the Department of Development desires to modify Contract Number DL003826 with the Columbus Downtown Development Corporation by extending the agreement until December 31, 2003; and

WHEREAS, Contract Number DL003826 provides the Columbus Downtown Development Corporation with funding to implement and oversee downtown development projects and programs as well as forge public-private partnerships with the goal of generating private investment for downtown; NOW, THEREFORE,


BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:


Section 1. That the Development Director is hereby authorized to modify Contract Number DL003826 with the Columbus Downtown Development Corporation by increasing the contract amount from $150,000 to $200,000 and by extending the term four months to December 31, 2003.
