Explanation

The Division of Water hired a consultant to set standards for janitorial services, to which our current vendor failed to comply, thereby terminating their contract. The Division and consultant worked with EBOC to find another vendor who could temporarily perform these janitorial services, until the new contract could be bid this summer. Dove Building Services was already doing business with the City and works with our consultant to maintain their standards. Therefore, it is in the best interest of the City of Columbus, that the provisions of competitive bidding be waived, and the Division of Water enter into a five-month contract with Dove Building Services, in the amount of $143,000.00. The Contract Compliance Number for Dove Building Services is 31-0918594. They have certified M1A status.

It is requested that this Ordinance be handled in an emergency manner, in order to have the contract established and to pay the vendor as soon as possible.

FISCAL IMPACT: The Division of Water has allocated $200,000.00 for janitorial services at the Public Utilities Complex in the 2003 Budget.

$139,383.12 was spent for these janitorial services in 2002.
$139,383.12 was spent for these janitorial services in 2001.
