To recognize May 22, 2004 as West High School Day on the occasion of its current building's 75th Anniversary.
 
Body
 
WHEREAS, Columbus City Council recognizes occasions of community significance;and,
 
WHEREAS, the West High School building located at 179 South Powell Avenue opened its doors 75 years ago and has graduated more than 20,000 young men and women  who have made innumerable contributions to our community; and,
 
WHEREAS, graduates of West High School have given the school a fine reputation through their achievements in athletice, public service, education and humanitarian causes;and,
 
WHEREAS, those who have graduated from West High School and contributed to their community over nearly eight decades are deserving of recognition; and,
 
WHEREAS, the west High School building's 75th Anniversary will be celebrated on May 22, 2004, around which activities have been planned, now; therefore
 
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS:
 
That it hereby recognizes May 22, 2004 as West High School Day on the occasion of the school building's 75th Anniversary.
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a copy of this resolution be presented to representatives of West High School.
