Explanation
Background:
This ordinance amends the 2007 Capital Improvements Budget, Ordinance #0733-2007, by $400,000 to purchase furniture, fixtures, and equipment for the new fleet maintenance facility at Groves Road. In addition, approximately $100,000 of the increase will be needed for contingency items. The Department of Finance and Management is in the process of securing bids for the furniture, fixtures, and equipment and seeks to ensure proper funding to award the contract to the most responsive bidder.
Emergency action is requested so that proper accounting methods are maintained, and that appropriation authority is available when needed.
Fiscal Impact: The total amount of this Capital Improvements Budget amendment is $400,000.00. Council passed ordinance 1408-2007 on July 31, 2006 to authorize the construction of the new fleet maintenance facility in the amount of $26.7 million. Funds for furniture and fixtures was not included as part of the construction budget. The Fleet Management Division is requesting $300,000 for furniture and fixtures (including office furniture and shelving for the parts room) as well as $100,000 for contingency funds to complete the facility.
