Explanation

BACKGROUND: The Health Department is in need of maintenance services for the Health Department's closed circuit TV and video monitoring equipment located at 240 Parsons Avenue. This ordinance authorizes the Board of Health to enter into the first year of a three year competitively bid contract with KNS Services, Inc. for $24,864.00 for video monitoring equipment maintenance.

Bid #SO024828 for CCTV Maintenance & PM services was posted March 12 through March 16, 2007. The following four vendors were solicited for bids:

1) Affordable Choice Electric, FID 31-1461454, EBO status: M - WHT - Act 03/28/08
2) Evolution Integration Services, Ltd., FID 31-1711503, EBO status: AFA - M1A - Act 03/07/08
3) Graybar Electric Company, FID 13-0794380, EBO status: M - WHT - Act 02/04/08
4) KNS Services, Inc., FID 31-1460220, EBO status: M - WHT - Act 12/18/08

The only bid received was from KNS Services in the amount of $2,072 per month, or $24,864 per year.

WHEREAS, Bid #SO024828 for CCTV Maintenance and preventive maintenance services was posted March 12 through March 16, 2007, and four vendors were solicited for bids and the only bid received was from KNS Services, Inc.; and,
