Explanation
BACKGROUND: This legislation authorizes the Finance and Management Director to enter into contract on behalf of the Office of Construction Management with Martin Painting & Coating in order to perform and complete City Hall garage wall renovations, at 90 West Broad Street. Formal bids were solicited on July 2, 2007. The following three companies submitted bids by the July 20, 2007 deadline (0 MBE, 0 FBE):
Martin Painting & Coating $59,545.00
Henry Painting Co. $63,800.00
Brian Brothers $68,840.00
The Office of Construction Management recommends that the bid be awarded to the most responsive and responsible bidder, Martin Painting & Coating.
This ordinance also authorizes the transfer of $59,545.00 between projects within the Construction Management Capital Improvements Budget as a temporary funding measure until bonds are sold to reimburse the Muncipal Court Renovation Project and amends the 2007 Captial Improvement Budget, ordinance #0733-2007, to reflect the expenditure of this project.
EMERGENCY ACTION is requested so that the renovation of the City Hall garage walls may begin as soon as possible, thereby improving necessary safety measures to City Hall employees, as well as maintaining the structure of the garage .
Fiscal Impact: The total amount of this contract is $59,545.00. The total amount will be transferred from the Municipal Court Renovations Project to the City Hall Renovations Project. This is a temporary measure and the amount will be reimbursed upon completion of the bond sale.
