Explanation
BACKGROUND: The Board of Health has a need to make funds
available to increase a contract with The Council On Healthy Mothers and
Babies. The contract modification will allow the Council on Healthy
Mothers and Babies additional funding to develop additional targeted
surveys and provide additional health education / promotion activities related
to increasing capacity for prenatal care.
The additional contract modification will be in an amount not to exceed
$20,500 for a total contract not to exceed $58,097.
Emergency action is required to ensure the continued operation of the
Healthy Start Program.
The Council On Healthy Mothers & Babies is contract compliant through 4/17/2009. Their contract compliance number is 421546970.
FISCAL IMPACT: This contract is entirely funded by a grant from the
U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The program does not
generate revenue or require a City match. The monies are budgeted in the
2007 Health Department Grants Fund.

WHEREAS, funding is available from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to fund the Healthy Start grant program; and,
WHEREAS, the Healthy Start Grant Program has a contract with The Council On Healthy Mothers And Babies to provide needs assessment and consultation services; and,
