Explanation
BACKGROUND: This legislation authorizes the Director of the Department of Development to enter into a contract with Community Development for All People to support the provision of social service activities for two years, or from January 1, 2012 until December 31, 2013, on the city's south side. The total amount of the contract is $30,000.
This ordinance represents a program to be funded following the Department of Development's competitive review process. The legislation targets a social service agency that will support programs and activities previously provided by the Southside Settlement House for residents of the south side. In addition, the city supports programs and activities so that the greater population is assured access to information, technical and other community assistance. The Community Development for All People provides food/meal programs, after-school activities and GED Programs.
This ordinance is submitted as an emergency to prevent an interruption in the delivery of vital program services.
FISCAL IMPACT: $30,000.00 has been allocated to fund social service programs through the General Fund.
