To honor and recognize Sam Orth on retirement from the City of Columbus

WHEREAS, Sam Orth has announced his retirement following a distinguished career of public service and leadership as Director of Technology and Chief Information Officer for the City of Columbus; and

 

WHEREAS, Director Orth joined the Administration of Mayor Andrew J. Ginther in July 2016, bringing decades of experience in information technology, government operations, education technology, and private-sector innovation; and

 

WHEREAS, throughout his tenure with the City of Columbus, Director Orth has demonstrated exceptional leadership in advancing technology solutions, strengthening digital infrastructure, and supporting the delivery of efficient and effective City services; and

 

WHEREAS, Director Orth’s contributions have included transformative technology initiatives that have modernized City operations, improved service delivery, and positioned Columbus for continued innovation and success; and

 

WHEREAS, beyond his professional accomplishments, Director Orth has built meaningful partnerships across City departments, elected offices, public agencies, community organizations, and technology partners, while mentoring colleagues and fostering a culture of collaboration and service; now therefore

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBUS: The City of Columbus extends its sincere appreciation and gratitude to Sam Orth for his years of dedicated service, leadership, and commitment to the residents of Columbus. Columbus City Council recognizes his lasting contributions and wishes him continued success and fulfillment in his retirement.
